Idli is one type of rice cake. It is a popular dish of South India. It is made from rice and black lentils batter. For this recipe we can make idli batter in our home or we can take readymade batter also.
Sprout moong stuffed idli is very good food for all ages people. It is also a healthy food for kids. We can use it in children School tiffin box. Sprout moong contains many type of vitamins.This is a simple, healthy and traditional recipe.
Ingredients :
½ kg readymade idli batter
1 bowl sprout moong
4 tsp refined oil
1 tsp mustard seeds
2 onion
½ tsp cumin powder
½ tsp turmeric powder
½ tsp chilli powder
Coriander leaves
Salt as per taste
Method :
• Heat a pan in medium flame and add 2 tsp oil in it.• Then add 1 tsp mustard seeds in hot oil.
• Add small pieces of two onion and cook it till it turns to light golden brown colour.
• Then add cumin powder, turmeric powder and chilli powder in onion and stir it for some second.
• Add sprout moong and salt in masala mix.
• Don't mix extra water in sprout moong, because we need dry stuffing for idli.
• Cook sprout moong for 2 to 3 minute in medium flame without cover and stir it continuously.
• After 3 minute add coriander leaves in sprout moong and mix it properly. Stuffing is ready.
• Take two cup water in a idli cooker. Cover the cooker and heat water in slow flame.
• Add salt in readymade idli batter and mix it properly.
• Grease idli mould with oil.
• Add 1 tsp idli batter in each mould and spread it.
• Then add 1 tsp sprout moomg stuffing over batter and cover it with another one tsp idli batter.
• When water started boiling in idli maker, keep the idli mould in it and cover it for 15 minutes in slow medium flame.
• After 15 minutes close the flame, take the mould from idli maker and keep aside for 5 minutes.
• Then take all the idli in a tray with the help of a spoon.
• Now stuffed idli is ready for serving. Serve it with chutney or sauce.
