Dry potato curry-sukhi batata bhaji-Maharashtra style sukha batata bhaji

This recipe is a dry potato curry of maharashtrian style. At many place of Maharashtra , it is called "batata sukhi bhaji" recipe. This batata recipe is a mild hand mouth watering curry. As we use only some dry masala, like turmeric powder and a pinch of chili powder in it. It is yummy and flavourful. Curry leaves give a nice aroma to the the potato bhaji. It is a easy, authentic and very popular recipe of Maharashtra.

Ingredients :

4 tbsp oil
1 tsp cumin seeds
1 tsp mustard seeds
4 green chilli
10/12 curry leaves
3 onion
1 tsp turmeric powder
½ tsp chilli powder
2 tsp goda masala powder
8 medium size boiled potato
Coriander leaves
Salt as per taste




Method : how to make



1 - After boil potatoes remove that's cover and cut potatoes into small pieces.
2 - Remove the cover of the onion and cut it in small pieces.
3 - Heat a pan, add oil in it.
4 - Then add cumin and mustard seeds in hot oil.



5 - When the seeds started popping 8 onion curry leaves and green chilli pieces in it.
6 - Cook it in medium flame till it turns to light golden brown colour. It takes 4 to 5 minutes for cooking.
7 - When onion turns to light golden brown colour, add boiled potato pieces and salt in it. Mix it properly.


8 - Cover the pan for 3/4 minute in slow flame.
9 - After 4 minutes open the pan then add coriander leaves in it and mix it properly.


10 - Then close the flame, take dry potatoes in a bowl. Serve it with rice, roti, paratha or poori.
